Smaul Recordings should not be suggestive of being fed by productions of Acid Pauli, only. However, creative times need being used and Martin Gretschmann – aka Console – member of The Notwist – alias Acid Pauli has collected lots of material whilst the scarce time left last year.
On Smaul 07 he follows his self-weaved red thread of the year. Acid Pauli confides more & more in a certain House rhythm paired with these melancholic layered sound-synthesis, already well known by him. Astonishing things emerge out of Acid Pauli’s musical waves, sometimes even scientially croon quite a bit.
Nymbiotic (A) comes relaxed but holds a great melody up in the sleeve – seasonly peppered. Symbiotic (B) rests bit on Minimal House, but Acid Pauli never relied on that genre. Thus, this track does not remain as it seems after three minutes. Glitches and sounds break it up to evolve a new symbiosis. Symbiotic becomes more timeless in spite of siren-climax peaks and an obsessive string chorus fading in the end.
