This man can’t currently be stopped. Following his releases through the 2nd season 2009 (Marvin on Compost, Smaul 06 & Smaul 07) in January 2010 Acid Pauli’s “Riverboat Tour” as digital only Smaul 08 came out. Now, it seems he opens this year’s summer season with these two psychedelic thrilling tracks.
Even though he had been touring a lot with The Notwist last year, Acid Pauli has pretty often been an invited, musically refreshing guest at Berlin’s Minimal Techno (what ever) scene. Den Mahlstrom Rauf leaves no doubts about. Great build-up he does by keeping tension over five minutes to unleash finally the madness’ charge with a levitating “reverse-ducking-compressed” melody. Den Mahlstrom Runter (a play on words of travelling on a boat and getting milled…) seems to be the return from the trip he gives on side A. It is the same track reworked. Its musical drama goes faster but deeper under the cortex – but “how lucky a fate” deliverance comes at right time taking the track over to a conversant housy and deep realm.
